Professional and Educational Background
Tara Ettlin is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington State. She earned her Masters of Science in Psychology: Mental Health Counseling from Western Washington University and her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from Humboldt State University. Tara has over ten years of mental health counseling experience, which includes providing short and long term therapy, behavioral health consultation, and group facilitation.
Tara utilizes an eclectic approach of evidenced based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy and mindfulness-based therapy. As an ally for the LGBTQ community, Tara provides a safe, non-judgmental environment. Her specialties include: exploring gender identity, and support for gender nonconforming teens and adults. Additionally, Tara has extensive experience providing mental health services in both English and Spanish, and specializes in cross-cultural counseling.
Tara approaches the therapeutic process as a powerful opportunity for clients to cultivate change and gain more awareness in their lives. Tara creates a compassionate and accepting therapeutic environment where clients can feel safe to explore opportunities for personal and interpersonal growth.
