Professional and Educational Background
Sage brings 27 years private practice experience with couples, families and individuals and holds mental health licenses (Marriage and Family Therapy) in Washington and Idaho. She graduated in Counseling and Family Therapy (M.S.) from Seattle Pacific University in l996 and is a clinical member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. Sage’s practice with couples is grounded in training using more than one modality, primarily family systems knowledge and the Gottman Method. Focus to address trauma in individuals and couples is informed using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), as well as through treatments to manage the impact of anxiety on communication. She also works with couples using the Couples Intensives format.
Sage’s focus to improve communication, mutual understanding and connection around parenting, and in families, is enriched by having been a school counselor at all grade levels. To support work with couples, she is currently studying for certification in sex therapy, and is working in part on this certification through the Northwest Institute on Intimacy.
Mostly, Sage is motivated by a strong desire to support clients to have the life and relationships they want most.
