Therapist

Kathryn Webster, M.S.W.

Professional and Educational Background

Kathryn Webster is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, new to Bellingham area but not to the art and science of psychotherapy.  She earned her Master of Science in Social Work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a child welfare concentration, and her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Northern Arizona University.  She has extensive experience in mental health work with adults, adolescents and children in a variety of settings;  including over 20 years in private practice, administrative and clinical work in nonprofit agencies serving survivors of domestic and family abuse, and school social work in traditional and alternative programs.

Kathy’s post graduate training and experience has developed skills and interests in the therapeutic approaches of cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical-behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, family and child therapy including play therapy,  trauma treatment, and mindfulness.   Her practice has included work with survivors of domestic abuse and child abuse,  individuals in the LGBTQ community , families experiencing separation, divorce or other stressors,  and child behavior concerns.  She offers compassionate, respectful and skilled care in the therapeutic relationship, assisting clients in discovering their own strengths and values and in learning new ways to see themselves, their relationships, and their possibilities.  Kathy uses a range of interventions to help clients create desired changes and new behaviors in their lives, based on the age and needs of the child, adolescent, or adult.
