Therapist

Jeremy Gear, M.A.

Professional and educational background

For more than 20 years I’ve had the privilege of working in various settings with diverse
populations in the Human Services and over the past seven years as a Mental Health Counselor
(LMHC). This has allowed me to cultivate intimate knowledge of the lived experience of
individuals across a wide range of life challenges. Along with being in private practice, I am the
Co-Director for the Support Groups Project with the MenHealing organization where we offer
services to male identified survivors of sexual harm. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma
Professional (CCTP). I hold a Bachelor of Arts from University of Washington and a Master’s of
Psychology from Seattle University. In addition, I have training in Emotionally Focused Couples
Therapy and Gottman Couples therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness based
approaches.

Therapeutic Approach

Whether you are an individual or a couple coming to therapy, I am committed to creating a safe,
accepting, and non-judgmental atmosphere where you can explore those parts of yourself or your
relationship that you may be struggling to change on your own. I tailor therapy to address your
particular concerns and guide the healing process in a way that fits your needs. I empower clients
to reclaim their lives and build a future defined by meaning, purpose, and hope.
I am sensitive to the many ways we are impacted by adverse experiences throughout our lives. I
help clients understand the ways trauma impacts their lives, specifically how past experiences
can affect current functioning. I offer education and evidence-based techniques to enhance
understanding and to build confidence in managing the thoughts, feelings and, behaviors that
contribute to distress, or keep you from living the life we want to live. My approach to therapy is
integrative. I draw from various psychological and scientific theories such as depth psychology,
developmental psychology, IFS, neurobiology, and mindfulness.
When working with couples, I help bring awareness to emotional experience and deepen
vulnerability to facilitate more effective communication and connection. I help couples identify
unhelpful patterns leading to distress and facilitate the development of more effective strategies
for getting needs met based on safety and trust.

Personal Information

Gray, and continuing to learn and grow on my own healing journey.
“Anything that is human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable is manageable. When
we can talk about our feelings, they become less upsetting and less scary. The people we trust
with this important talk can help us know we are not alone” -Fred Rogers
