Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT focuses on increasing tolerance for emotional pain while helping you clarify your values to promote a more values-consistent life through acceptance, mindfulness, and behavior change.

Affirmative Therapy

Used to validate and advocate for the needs of sexual and gender minority clients by providing a supportive environment for you to discuss identity, societal challenges, and how to cope with those experiences.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Involves unlearning negative thought and behavior patterns and adopting healthier thinking habits to help you better respond to difficult situations.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Based on CBT, but specially adapted for people who experience emotions very intensely. DBT recognizes that two opposite things can be true at the same time, and can provide you with emotional regulation skills, mindfulness, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Helps you identify, explore, and integrate the different parts of your inner self to heal emotional wounds and restore inner balance.

Play Therapy

Primarily used for children, but adults can benefit too. Play Therapy helps people learn about the world, uncover and address psychological issues, and can aid communication skills.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Involves rhythmic stimulation and moving your eyes in a specific way while processing traumatic memories, to help reduce the vividness of the distressing experience.

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy

Psychotherapy combining elements of CBT, meditation, and mindfulness—a present-oriented, non-judgmental attitude—to help you develop greater awareness and acceptance of your thoughts, emotions, and experiences.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Helps to uncover and understand the unconscious patterns, emotions, and past experiences that shape your current thoughts and behaviors. This awareness helps you gain insight, resolve inner conflicts, and create emotional growth and change.

Gender-Affirming Therapy

Through psychological, social, and medical support, Gender-Affirming Therapy is effective at improving one’s well-being and life satisfaction.

NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM)

NARM is a therapy for complex trauma that focuses on how early disconnection shapes current patterns, and which helps to shift these patterns to reconnect with one’s authentic self.

Somatic Therapy

Somatic Therapy explores body awareness and teaches people practices to feel safe while exploring thoughts, emotions, and memories.

Frequently Asked Questions

General

Yes. Secure telehealth sessions are available for clients who prefer to meet virtually, offering flexibility while maintaining the same level of care as in-person meetings.

The therapeutic relationship is one of the most important parts of effective counseling. Clients are encouraged to notice whether they feel comfortable, understood, and supported. If the match does not feel right, referrals to other providers can be offered.

No. Many people begin therapy without prior experience. Sessions are designed to provide a safe, supportive space where clients can share and explore at a comfortable pace.

For non-urgent matters, you are welcome to leave a voicemail or send an email anytime. Messages are usually returned within 24 hours, excluding weekends. Your therapist will make specific arrangements with you in advance should you ever have an emergency.

No diagnosis is required to start therapy. For insurance billing purposes, a diagnosis is necessary. This can be discussed with your therapist.

Client Experience

The first session is focused on exploring, concerns, and goals for therapy. It is also a chance to review how counseling works, answer questions, and decide if the client-therapist match feels right.

Standard sessions are 53 minutes. Many clients begin with weekly appointments, though frequency can be adjusted based on needs and progress.

The length of therapy varies. Some individuals attend for a short period to address specific concerns, while others choose longer-term support for deeper growth. Progress and goals are reviewed regularly.

Yes. Information shared in therapy is kept private, with limited exceptions required by law, such as risk of harm to yourself or others, or cases involving child, elder, or vulnerable adult abuse. Confidentiality is discussed in detail during the initial session.

It is common to feel unsure about where to begin. Sessions can start with whatever is most pressing or relevant to you in the moment, and your therapist will help guide the conversation.

Clients often decide to conclude therapy when they feel more confident, have developed effective coping skills, and notice meaningful changes in how they manage challenges. Progress is reviewed collaboratively with your clinician. When the time feels right, a planned ending supports a smooth transition.

For Couples

Not at all. Couples therapy can benefit partners at any stage of their relationship—whether you’re dating, engaged, married, separating or divorcing.

If you feel stuck in repeating patterns, struggle to resolve conflict or want to deepen your connection, couples therapy can help.
